My class is a place where I have various reading levels and students who are developing their comprehension skills. I foster a love for reading by exposing them to a print-rich environment. These books will help enhance their abilities and reach their goals. Ultimately, this will help my readers be independent and more confident.
Reading is a foundational part to our growth. In first grade, that is one of our top priorities. We have to always practice. These books will help promote my student's understanding, concept of print, fluency and awareness of words and their meanings. They will also help my students make connections that will help them answer open-ended questions that encourage discussions, and show how they are thinking by using text-supported evidence. I want to give them an opportunity to enhance their capacity to state the main idea, highlight cause and effect and talk about different characters and their roles in a story.
Students should have a access to a variety of books that are fresh and new. Our class library has a limited amount of books and they are worn and torn. Let's provide my class with books they will enjoy and remember for years to come.
