I teach four sections of fifth grade mathematics and one section of sixth grade reading. I would describe our school as a community. We start the year by having student set goals. We explain to students that they are not alone in achieving these goals and teachers are here to help them in any way possible. We explain to the students that we are a community and communities help others and work together. One way that we show students we work together is by raising money for charities such as Heifer.
