After several years of tight budgets, many of my classroom books are old, mildewed, torn and ripped. Several students already begin fourth grade reporting they don't like to read. I want my students to be excited about books but I need books in good shape, on subjects that interest them at levels they can read. I also included a few books about black lives, historical figures and our state history. These books will be read in small groups where rich conversations and connections can happen. If we go remote, students will read the books at home and discuss them with classmates over Zoom.
