My worst fear happened last year... We only have one good working corded microphone with an on/off switch. I had tried my best to wrap and tape the cords, but a student tripped on one during our evening performance after the student before her, moved the stand... I wasn't able to move fast enough to stop what I could see happening almost as if it were in slow motion. Luckily she was fine, and did not seem upset, but this could have been much more serious. Our Title I school does not have the funds to allow for items such as a wireless microphone system. I feel we need these microphones not only for better performances, but for a safer environment as well. These microphones will boost students' self confidence in their ability to perform solos and speaking parts. At any grade level, coming down off the risers, carefully walking over the many cords either taped or covered, and approaching the microphone stand itself can seem like a daunting task. This gets especially tough when everybody you've ever known or loved you is in the audience watching! Now imagine doing that as a first grader! I need your help to give my students the best opportunity available to perform. We have 2 performances each year for each grade level k-4. To not have to make a single file line in front for 20+ speaking parts would help tremendously. With this wireless system, you will be removing many barriers and help ensure we have a flawless show and positive experience for all!
