These books will help students better understand the stories they are reading. They will help students create a mental picture of the setting and put a face to a name. Pictures help students comprehend the story so that they can further analyze the text. Many of my students have not traveled outside of the state, let alone the country, so they have a difficult time picturing Greece's mythological age and fair Verona. These books will help students make those connections. The No Fear Shakespeare will help students understand Shakespearean language by providing them with the "plain" text side-by-side with the original text. These books will also help when we are acting out the scenes. Currently we only have our large textbooks and they are cumbersome to hold while reading from the book and trying to be animated while doing so.
