At Desert Sands, an inner-city school in the heart of Arizona, more than 400 students per week go through my classroom for 45 minutes of general music instruction each week. We are a Title I district, and the majority of our students are on reduced lunch programs. They generally cannot afford to go to concerts or hear live music performed at a professional level. Outside of infrequent field trips, their only exposure to a world of diverse music performance and culture is what I can provide for them in the classroom. My students are very interested in technology and would show a lot of pride and excitement about having a great sounding audio system in our music room!
