Our school is an urban school with a large population of free and reduced lunch students. My students come from culturally diverse backgrounds. They are interactive learners and need to work with manipulatives to enhance learning. Students are eager to learn and we are trying to create a new direction for our school with an increased focus in science. Students tend to have difficulties learning and understanding new concepts in science, especially when there is a lack of hands on exploration. This is a primary reason that we are placing additional emphasis on increasing the amount of hands on activities that students experience in science each week.
