I have 3 classes that has mix of Advanced, on-level and special needs students. The Advanced students are eager learners who like to play educational games in teams. The on-level students like to work independently and like to use white boards and markers. Special needs students require more time for answering and it helps if once in a while they are allowed to make art and play for a few minutes. The material I have asked for is very thoughtfully put together after observing the student needs for better learning. A research on my student performance showed me that the students in another teacher's class were growing better on scores when they were using similar strategies to keep them on task.
