We feel that "Float Like a Butterfly" is the perfect opportunity to enhance our students skills in active science discovery with the continuation of building on the foundations of their learning. Our greatest desire is to provide yet another meaningful, authentic learning experience for our Kindergarten students by requesting the Insect Lore Live Butterfly Growing Kits. Students will partake in researching the butterfly and its life cycle, a topic that will be brought to life by your generosity while also infusing the expository writing process! Expository writing is the process in which students will uncover new knowledge and write true facts about a topic. This project will develop our students' ability to make cross-curricular connections and give them the opportunity to participate in highly engaging activities across multiple disciplines. To begin, our uniquely diverse Kindergarten classrooms (monolingual/bilingual) will learn how to gather research by reading and analyzing non-fiction text. Classes will explore what butterflies look like, where they live, what they eat, how they grow, and fun facts that make them special. Research stations will span across multiple days to give students the experiences of learning how to collect research. Each class will utilize technology integration, an essential 21st century skill, for that purpose. Technology outlets like Discovery Education and PebbleGo will be used. While researching, each class will have the pleasure of witnessing the butterfly life cycle using the Insect Lore Live Butterfly Growing Kits. We believe, with your help, that moments like these will have such a powerful impact on the students' endless journey in the world of education. It is your generosity that will afford our students that priceless opportunity to dabble in the incredible world of science and further instill the love of learning within their hearts!
