With this project, we are striving to learn to read and write sight words. The Heidi DVD's give the students a visual of the word and a song with movement to teach you how to spell the word. I have been able to do the movement from a song, and the children immediately know the word and how to spell the word. These are going to give my students the ability and the confidence to learn way over their 25 minimum words to read, in kindergarten, and so much more. We are aiming to be at over 100 sight words, plus number and color words. I have already seen this, in just this week of watching a Heidi Song on You Tube, for the number zero. My students sing it all the time and if you ask how to spell it, they jump up and wave their arm, yelling Z-E-R-O, zero the hero.
