The books that I have chosen will help students to think critically, with reading comprehension, and stamina as they read. My goal is to increase literacy in a non literate population. These books will be used for many years. Students will do many different things with these books. For example, they will create projects and use them as examples in their writing. They will analyze different aspects of the book such as theme, characterization, symbolism, and imagery. Students will create lap books where they have analyzed these elements in a fun and creative way. These texts will be of high interest and relevant to them.
