I have taught at the middle school level for the past five years. I come from a teaching background (my mother taught second grade for thirty years and serves as my teaching role model) and strive to be the best for my students. Some may scoff at the notion of spending time with eighth graders. Yet I relish the opportunity to reach an important age. Middle school students are at the point where they begin to realize the larger world around them, and technology enables me to encourage them to become more global citizens. I come from a technology background, and am currently a member of CUE (Computer Using Educators). Technology does not serve as a gimmick in my classroom, but as a focal point in an attempt to make users more digitally literate and active participants in the digital culture. As many of my students now use Apple products, I hope to learn more about the iPad in order to craft lessons and curriculum that meets their needs.
