Students come to my classroom to work on specific goals that they are having trouble reaching in their general education classroom. Currently, my students sit in traditional classroom chairs and have trouble focusing on their work. With their bodies minimally engaged, their minds wander, making focusing on their learning a challenge. With their bodies physically engaged by the wobble stools or alternative seat cushions, their minds are free to focus on their educational goals. By allowing my students to select their seating, I am giving them control over their learning experience, teaching them to understand how to address their needs, and take control of their success.
