My classroom is filled with transitional kindergarten students. Transitional kindergarten is an essential grade which helps to bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten. This is a specialized grade which focuses on students who will turn five between the months of September and December. For many of my students, this is their first experience with school, which means it is critical for me to help them develop numerous fundamental skills. It is important to help these students develop emotionally, physically, and cognitively in order to increase their success in grades beyond TK. My students are bright, energetic, and caring. Within my classroom, my students come from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds that are considered at risk.
