I work at an alternative school in the Charleston County School District. The mission of our academy is to provide an environment where students can focus on improving social skills and behavioral choices while continuing to progress academically. The target population for our academy are students referred from Due Process Hearings with limited prior discipline, students returning from placements, and Middle School FOCUS students. Each academy is housed in a portable or a detached classroom. Students remain in their own learning community, including lunch time.
