I am a 7th grade Language Arts teacher in a rural district who grew up loving to read, be read to, and read to others. I loved and still love all things books: buying them, reading, them, rereading them, and sharing loved books with others. Unfortunately, by the time many of my students get to seventh grade, few are avid readers. They've either lost the love or never learned to love the art of reading a really great book. I make it my mission to get every kid to readily and honestly admit they enjoyed a book in my class - whether it's a novel we read as a class or a choice book they grabbed off my shelf. I want them to realize "The more you read, the more things you know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." and truly learn to love reading.
