I am a first grade teacher to a wonderful group of diverse students who LOVE to read. Our school is located in southern Ohio and is a high poverty school. 54% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. I would love to give my students a variety of experiences that they would not get otherwise. The students in my class have mixed abilities and sometimes struggle with basic skills. I love teaching first grade because I love being the one to teach them how to do things first. Things like write a detailed sentence or read a chapter book. I also give my students lots of love and attention. They thrive on positive comments and feedback. As I have created a fun, loving, safe family atmosphere in my room, they are learning how to work in groups and inspire each other through play and projects. They come to school willing to learn and work hard every day. Our motto is "Today's Learners, Tomorrow's Leaders"
