My students are bright, vivacious, spirited children in the Mississippi Delta. Our school is a safe space, and what we lack in materials, we make up for in spirit. My ninth graders are from one of the poorest areas in the country. Because of the economic situation of this school, and the challenges that my students face as a result of that, it is increasingly important that they are encouraged to view events through multiple perspectives.
