These materials will allow my students to invoke their higher ordered thinking skills in literacy. This is important to me because my students are exceptional in many ways and just need the simplest of tools to succeed! I’ll use the materials to create hands-on learning experiences. Students these days cannot sit and listen to a lecture. They learn by creating. We will have several projects throughout the school year that will require students to work in small groups to express their learning in many different ways. They are allowed to write, draw, build, and construct projects to express their mastery of the concepts taught. My students will create interactive notebooks which we will add to on a daily basis. We will study grammar, punctuation, and spelling using graphic organizers and activities that will be completed inside the notebooks. We will create colorful pictures and anchor charts so that the more tactile learners can have a meaningful contribution to the class.
