These materials and tools will be used to support counseling instruction and help my students to develop social, emotional, behavioral, and academic skills in a hands on, creative, and engaging way. My goal is to promote social-emotional learning through the use of games, hands on activities, arts and crafts, movement, and laughter. Having access to these materials will allow my students to focus on their mental health and emotional well-being while having fun and interacting with their peers. These tools will be used in counseling sessions and class lessons for icebreaker activities, practicing mindfulness, developing coping strategies, and social skills instruction. For example, the Mad Libs books, conversation cubes and Emoji thumball will be used for icebreaker activities and the yoga spinner and mindful games book will be used to practice mindful movements. Additionally the canvas panels, art supplies, activity book, and journals will be used for therapeutic art projects to foster creativity. Lastly, the answer buzzers will be used for social-emotional learning games to check for understanding of counseling lesson content.
