With technology at its peak, students are less likely to choose to play board games over technology. Board games teach communication, rules, patience (waiting for your turn), social interaction, and so much more in fun and engaging ways! Students with autism learn differently so teaching academic concepts (numbers, counting, letters, sight words) through traditional board games is an active learning strategy, which makes learning more meaningful to students. With the variety of board games, students will be able to engage with the curriculum as well as their peers. Candyland, bingo, and Gumball Machine will support both, language arts and math common core state standards. The social skills curriculum is addressed through experiences with their teachers and peers.
