The chairs in my classroom are close to 30 years old and they have definitely seen a lot of bottoms! Metal bolts that pull out hair, cracks that pinch rear ends, and missing feet create impromptu rocking chairs are a distraction to learning! I teach 3rd grade math and science, and we move around the room a lot! We do a bunch of math stations that require students moving from one seat to another. Most of the time, they just want to stand because the chairs can be a distraction to their learning. Mismatched colors, sizes, and styles are not common reasons to request a new set of student chairs. When their learning is interrupted because of children falling out of unstable chairs, it becomes more of a nuisance than aesthetics. Even if a full set of chairs is unattainable, any amount would be helpful to my students! Thank you!
