My students are part of a digital media Career and Technical Education program. In this CTE Program of Study the students learn animation, video production, visual effects, and digital photography. I feel that the students coming out of my classroom are at the forefront of contemporary image-making because I instituted a program that emphasized a digital literacy in order to be reflective users of online platforms. I push my students to be involved in the world of image making in order to engender a criticality about the medium. Whether they are reblogging on Tumblr, creating content for Flickr and Vine, posting to Instagram and Twitter, or using and reviewing smart-phone applications, they are involved all facets of digital media.
