My students LOVE to READ! Some read better than others but they all strive to become great readers. One of their favorite centers is my class library. I see some students who see a book that looks really interesting but when they go to read it, they stop and put it back because they lack the confidence to read a book that may be just a tad bit harder for them. With these new books, I can help each of my students gain the confidence and become great readers. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. Having a variety of new books, leveled readers and books to help with guided reading, will allow them to read independently at their own reading level. At the end of the year, the students that lacked the confidence to read a harder book, will be the students that recommends those harder books to other students because they have gained the strategies and confidence to read.
