While my school is in an urban area of Chicago, we are part of an incredibly diverse community. My diverse classroom includes 43% low income students, 25% of my students are English Learners, coming from Hispanic, and Asian countries. My classroom of learners includes students receiving EL support, special education and reading support. Each year, I challenge my students to read at least forty books, and each year, they amaze me by rising to the challenge. The main reason that they are successful is due to an abundant library in which they can choose great books that interest them.
