The materials and supplies that I'm requesting will help us create a Hygge learning environment for our 4th grade class. Hygge is a Danish concept of creating warmth, coziness, home and community. Hygge is all about appreciating the little things in life and being thankful for them. We will use the rug, pillows and canopy to create a cozy, snuggly, inviting reading nook in our classroom. The fairy lights, candles, essential oil diffuser and Himalayan Salt Lamp will provide a warm, calm ambiance in our classroom. Every Friday, our class will have Klaasen Time (class time). We will enjoy warm cocoa in our mugs along with a sweet dessert. We will use the time to visit with one another and reconnect and build class unity. By incorporating the concept of Hygge, my students will benefit from a health and wellness perspective by being in a classroom that encompasses mindfulness and comfort. We will also gain an understanding of the Danish culture.
