Many of our students are struggling readers and are not proficient in the English Language. A reading center with a small table and chairs will help for small group instruction (with the pillows making it feel like home). Students will each receive a 'learning mat' to bring to the front of the classroom to sit and listen to our daily lesson. A few of my students live in a homeless shelter, I want my classroom to feel like a home and safe comfortable place to them. We don't have air condition, so often our students need water throughout the day. Kleen Kanteen bottles are safe and effective for our students to keep them hydrated and sanitary for multi-use. The Intex Inflatable Empire Chairs will be used in our classroom library where students can relax and enjoy a book under the calm Bijou LED Tripod Floor Light. The Gaiam Kids Stay-N-Play Children's Inflatable Balance Ball Desk Chair will be used for flexible seating in our classroom for students with ADHD to help stay focused. Our students need a classroom where they feel welcomed and see that learning can be fun! The Pencil Grip Crossover Grip will be given to students with fine motor difficulties to assist with handwriting. The magnetic letters and numbers as well as the CVC Letter Cubes will be perfect to use on our whiteboard to practice spelling and sight word vocabulary for struggling readers. The puzzle balls, monster pop up toys and brain teaser puzzles will be added to our prize box for incentives for our students to work towards.
