I had carpet squares in my last classroom bought by that school's PTO. They were perfect because the kids can use them to sit around the room during reading, and can be configured tons of different ways as opposed to one rug. As we all know, kids can be messy! I always hated having a rug to clean, but these are very durable AND machine washable! White boards are an essential supply in a classroom as the students use them in various ways. Often times students will use them when working in a space around the room (aka not at their desk). I use them often when working in small groups as well.
