My eighth grade students level of mathematics range between third grade to sixth grade level. About 65% of my students struggle with basic concepts such as computation and Pre-Algebra concepts while being mandated to take Algebra. We work on our basic skills every day while learning Algebra standards. In addition, many of my students have not had enough exposure to real life problems that deal with Algebra.
