The products I have selected are just the first step in creating an area for my students who need a space in order to regulate their emotions. Some of these students have Autism, some of them have Serious Emotional Disabilities, and some of them just need a calm and inviting place to diffuse the anxiety they may be feeling. I use wonderful teaching materials and curriculum to support students and their emotions however, sometimes, they just need a place to go to deal with their emotions, and a space that will provide them with sensory tools will give them that. The use of the storage shelves will not only designate a space, my students will be able to select the other materials on my list to help them regulate their emotions. It keeps this space organized and less cluttered for students, while providing independence in selecting what they need to feel secure.
