I am requesting a class set of 10 tablets to create a technology station geared to improve basic math and reading skills, prepare for PARCC assessment, reinforce grade level content, and practice computer-based skills to improve digital literacy. The tablets will provide additional tools to differentiate lessons and activities using web-based programs such as Geometer Sketchpad and Khan Academy, in both small group and independent learning opportunities. Students will also be able to watch instructional videos, review content through games and online activities, and create multimedia presentations including making movies, using Vocoroo, and other online tools to show mastery of the content. My students will use the tablets daily and they will complete daily goal-sheets through google docs to chart their progression towards mastery. The tablets already have a safe home and will be distributed and collected by the technology manager that I hire from each class. Their job will be to distribute and collect the tablets each day as well as remind the class of the expectations when in the technology station. I will serve as the supervisor and they must provide a check-in/check-out form daily.
