The basic principle behind centrifugal force is seen in washing machines, fair rides and planetary motion. Though students can understand the idea behind centrifugal force, the impacts and applications of this force are not well-comprehended without the hands-on experience provided through experiments they get to design, conduct and explain. Students will utilize the centrifuge to conduct experiments based on mass, separation of biological samples and immiscible solutions. These experiments support a basic understanding of the microscopic world and natural forces. Centrifuges are a commonplace piece of equipment in medical fields, in research labs, and for testing samples. Students have missed the hands-on learning of lab projects due to the need for “virtual classrooms” over the last 2 years. This equipment will allow our students to accelerate their learning of basic concepts while getting their hands on equipment commonly used in many STEM-based careers.
