I am requesting individual headphones for my class as well as a storage bin to carefully store them in my classroom. The storage bins will offer an area to house their headphones in an effort to demonstrate responsibility in taking the proper care of equipment that has been so graciously bestowed upon them. The storage bins will fit neatly in the back of the classroom, where students will have access to hem when they need them. The quality headphones that I am requesting (I have purchased countless sets of low quality ear buds that simply did not last) will allow my students the ability to focus on valuable learning activities in an environment free from outside noise, which can be extremely distracting. The students in my class are extremely fortunate to have the daily use of shared Chromebooks. These Chromebooks provide many opportunities for my students that they might not otherwise have, given their low socioeconomic status. The programs we use daily are an invaluable part of their education. Students will use the headphones with their Chromebooks to work on a variety of skills each day. These daily skills that are being practiced will have a direct impact on student success. However, the combined noise of the Chromebooks, without the use of personal headphones, creates a chaotic and bothersome atmosphere for students of various ability levels who do not have them. The individual use of the headphones will prevent my students from disturbing others while they are engaged in their learning.
