Students (and adults) have problems sitting still at a desk all day. I want to give my kids the opportunity to choose where they work best, thus setting them up for success. On the floor with a lap tray? No problem! At a desk with a stability ball chair? Absolutely! Standing at a desk on a balance board? Whatever helps you learn! Studies are showing that standing desks help students pay attention, feel more energetic, and fight obesity. Math is already a stressful and frustrating class, I want my kids to be excited to come to class and not "stuck" at a traditional desk when they work best in another setting. I am hoping to use my classroom as a trial to figure out what works best and then start introducing different methods to other classrooms. Google has proven that alternate workplace seating is successful. Giving student choice in the classroom helps build a positive classroom environment and encourages students to do more. Please help me provide a positive learning environment for my kids.
