With these headphones, my students will be able to participate in an authentic, technologically-integrated classroom. In my room, students are exposed to various blended learning sites, which allow them to practice reading skills at their own pace and level. One student may be working on solving idioms in context, while another could be working on identifying vowel sounds. To foster the love of reading, the greatest use of the headphones will be with our digital library. With a good portion of my students reading one to three grades below grade-level, our digital library allows them to choose books that are high interest, colorful and include sound effects. Students are transported into different worlds with just one click. The headphones would allow each student to have serenity and focus during their independent reading time, while building their reading stamina and interests.
