My students are ninth grade, lower level math students. Most of my students are from low income, single parent homes. They cannot afford graphing calculators. As many of them have failed 2 or more years in math, they come to me very frustrated and discouraged before I even begin teaching them. Although our high school is on the AB schedule (classes meet every other day), these students meet every day in order to close the gaps in their learning and bring them back up to grade level performance. My goal with these students is to build their self confidence in math while teaching them Algebra.
