As a teacher I cannot sit behind a desk all day, so why would I expect my students to do so? Flexible seating is the new fab among teachers and I plan to jump on board. Giving students a relaxed environment to learn in will increase comfort as well improve student productivity. Students and myself, are behind computers throughout the school day because of the pandemic. The need for comfort has grown more than ever before. Herman Miller stated, "Comfortable classrooms—physically and psychologically— promote a sense of well-being, keep minds focused, and limit distractions." Flexible seating allows teachers to easily connect with students that are struggling and researchers have proven that a relaxed/flexible environments allow for students to thrive and become more engaged.
