I live in a rural, high poverty area in Illinois. Funding for textbooks and especially novels is pretty much limited. We are working with novels that have been used for over 20 years. Needless to say they have been greatly "loved" (ie- worn out). I want to introduce the classics to these students knowing many won't get the opportunity to read them after high school.
