This year, students will be working in groups to design a safety feature for a mobile object (car, bike, stroller, etc.) that will provide protection in the event of a collision. This 22 week project will require students to create a website documenting their research, experiments, and designs. Students will work in groups of four. In order to do this project, students will require access to technology, of which my school is lacking. At our school, there are 7 Chromebook carts/labs that is shared between 68 teachers-meaning access to technology is limited and not always available. These Chromebooks will allow my students to collaborate with each other to design a safety feature. On top of the collision project, the Chromebooks will allow students to interact with Physics simulations from websites like PHET and Physics classroom that tone in to science we cannot see with our eyes (energy, electricity, magnetism, etc.) These chromebooks will also allow for more practice with direct feedback from websites like Kahn Academy. They will also allow access to digital texts from a variety of sources.
