When learning new terms and vocabulary in Science it often helps students to have a mnemonic device or song in order for them to remember. Flocabulary is a fun and engaging way to help students learn new vocabulary. Through fun (and funny) raps, the host of Flocabulary sings songs in a video about topics like the water cycle and ecosystems. The membership for Flocabulary also includes quizzes, vocabulary games and read & respond sections that will prove to be beneficial for helping students get ready for the state assessment test. The book sets will be a great resource to have before, during and after lessons. Reading is an integral part of all subject areas, especially in Science. Research has proven that for a student to comprehend and retain a new vocabulary word, they must be exposed to it 21 times through sight, hearing, and touch. Flocabulary's multisensory methods allow all learners to engage their individual learning style while exposing them multiple times to the vocabulary. This is my second year in education and my book collection is small but growing slowly. I want my students to develop a love of reading books while expanding their vocabulary and knowledge of the subject.
