My students learn about the animal kingdom and invertebrates and vertebrates within. Having an aquarium of this magnitude would allow students to see a thriving ecosystem consisting of both freshwater vertebrates and invertebrates, and be able to identify and discuss the characteristics that allow these organisms to thrive in their environments, as well as the interactions between them. Having freshwater organisms within the classroom would not only allow more than ninety students each year to see and experience these organisms firsthand, but learn how to care for them and hopefully provide an outlet to spark interest in future learning and career paths dealing with living organisms.
