Coming from a small school in a somewhat remote location, my students aren't exposed to the diversity they would experience elsewhere. Because of this, and because of the current atmosphere in the United States, I would like to expand my classroom library and the books that I teach in order to be more inclusive of diversity. I want my students to be able to make connections with individuals from far away. I would also like to diversify our literature selection because I want those students who do feel underrepresented in our current selection to feel represented and able to relate to protagonists who are similar to them. I want my students to feel safe and part of a more cohesive whole, and I believe that inclusive literature is one way to do this. We are requesting titles which include Things Fall Apart, The Hate U Give, I'll GIve You the Sun, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night and more.
