Currently, we are working with very limited technology in our Title I building. We share a chrome cart among 8 4th grade teachers. This leaves us with 3-4 computers per teacher. That is a ratio of 1 computer for 6 students. I would like to see my ratio change to allow my students more opportunities to work with technology.
Google Classroom, FASSTMath, I-ready, and research studies are just a few of the things I want to do with more technology. I want to teach my students how to navigate the internet safely and efficiently. They need to learn typing skills, along with research skills to be successful in a technology world. Utilizing Google Classroom for assignments will teach them how to make power-points, upload photos, use good communication skills, and work efficiently with a group. Our county has a FUTURE READY initiative, this means we are trying to make every student in our county ready for college and a career. Learning these skills will put my students on this path.
I teach predominately Math and Science skills to my students and there are two programs that help immensely with that. The first is FASSTMath. This program allows students to work on their fact fluency be able to complete tasks with more precision. The other program is I-ready. This program hits student at exactly where their needs are. They can have remediation or enrichment based on their individual needs.
Our world is a world of technology. Students need the opportunity to practice using it in a professional way. Please help me provide this opportunity to my students.
