My students deserve to have the basic supplies needed to be successful in the classroom. With COVID-19, we are cautiously maintaining safe practices to ensure students are protected. This means there is no sharing of supplies, and being at a socially disadvantaged site with 97% of my students on free and reduced lunch, many do not have the means to purchase their own supplies. My students are excited to be at school again working hard, enjoying recess with peers, and engaging in active PE, however, water fountains are off-limits due to COVID, and my kids are thirsty. Most do not have their own water bottles to properly hydrate their bodies throughout the day. My English learners are also working hard on their oral language skills gaining confidence by standing up to read or speak in English. A karaoke machine is a fun, engaging, and hands-on way for them to share out with classmates (disinfecting in between uses of course).
