My personal goal is to be the BEST Teacher I Can Be by Empowering youth to be the BEST They Can Be. I am a new teacher and also a proud "Baby-Boomer." I teach high school students, many of whom have not ever had any previous art training, Introduction to Art and Advanced Art classes. I also co-taught an Art Humanities class and exposed students to the various art styles and changing art scenes from the Renaissance through the Pop Art Culture into Contemporary Arts of today. This coming year I will be part of a select group of Arizona Leona educators facilitating a new pioneer program for our schools, Youth Entrepreneurs. South Ridge High School's poverty rate is 81.7%, making it a "Beating the Odds" recipient. South Ridge is a high-performing school; they have received three consecutive "A" ratings from the Arizona Department of Education. They were ranked by the U.S. News & World Report "Best High Schools"
