My students are a part of a world where technology is mainstream. Unfortunately, many of my children don't have access to any electronic device, let alone a computer. Rogers Park Middle School in Danbury, CT, is comprised of a diverse group of students both ethnically and economically. Racial makeup is: Hispanic (47.2%), White (37.2%), Asian (6.7%), Others (8.9%) More than half (56.8%) of the student population are receive free or reduced lunch. My students are eager learners and interested in technology, and are very social. They enjoy the opportunity to experience learning that is 'hands on', fun and interesting or outside of the normal classroom setting, and with projects that are related to the real world. My greatest desire is for all my students to realize that 'Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit.' (Stefan Banach)
