On my first day seeing my students and the classroom, the librarian walked up to me and told me she has been trying to get the students to choose books at their own reading level because they haven't been doing so. I noticed my classroom has NO classroom library and therefore no way for me to provide these books at their independent reading levels. Coming in the middle of the year without a summer to prepare my classroom, I don't have the time it takes to prepare a classroom library for my students. But, I still want to provide books they can read independently since reading at this grade level is so important!
