Our school is located in a rural area and over 50% of students qualify for free/reduced lunch. It is unrealistic for me to ask for money to buy a new classroom carpet from the parents, especially in these tough economic times. My first graders are very creative. They helped me write a poem to describe our need and desire for a brand new carpet. My students love to learn but have difficulty maintaining focus. They crave excitement and energy that a new carpet would bring to lessons.
