For students with different sensory needs, having the right equipment makes all the difference! Something as simple as oral input through a chewable necklace or pencil topper can help a student feel calm, safe, and available for learning. For my students with sensory and attentional needs, getting extra movement through using a wiggle cushion can be a great support in the classroom. Students love using the Theraputty for brain breaks in the classroom and fine-motor strengthening activities in the therapy area. The different resistances of Theraputty will help me grade the resistance for what the child needs. Improving fine-motor strength and coordination can help with hand writing, cutting, and using other classroom materials, such as glue, staplers, and pencil sharpeners.
