This year our school is completing all district and standardized test online. With this being the first year our 3rd graders test online, as well as take the Georgia Milestones, it's very difficult to teach them test-taking strategies with limited resources in technology. It doesn't make sense to teach students test-taking strategies using paper pencil, and then expect them to apply those same paper pencil strategies when testing online. Chromebooks will allow my students to explore test-taking strategies online, and get a feel for what to expect when testing. Chromebooks will also help provide different educational games and make learning more fun. Chromebooks will help create a differentiated structured learning environment for my students. They will be able to create projects that are meaningful to them as well as challenging. I want to give them the strong foundation they will need in technology to enable them to become productive citizens in their community and be successful in the careers of their choice. Having technology in the classroom will benefit my students by allowing more of them to be "hands-on" for research of different topics. Students can find the information they need for themselves using research strategies taught in class. Students can also apply their mathematical reasoning skills to real-world problems using computers to design, innovate, and create! Chromebooks make collaboration and creativity possible, as students can share their work with each other and utilize different methods of presentation of their findings. Students need to be able to expand their learning beyond the four walls of the classroom and having access to technology will make that possible. Students will learn the necessary skill of collaborating using technology.
